When discussing barbecues, it often leads to comparing gas barbecues with wood barbecues. It's an endless debate because each has its advantages and disadvantages. The key is to find which one is ideal for you and your usage.

The disadvantages

The major drawback of a gas or electric barbecue is the lack of flavor compared to wood-fired grills. With gas or electric, you merely grill the meat, which doesn't infuse it with the same aromas as a wood barbecue. Although gas barbecues are easier to use, you'll never achieve the same flavors.

The setup

I've written this many times before, but I'll repeat it: a wood barbecue requires time. You'll need to allow about 1.5 hours between when you start preparing the barbecue and when it's hot enough to cook your food. A gas barbecue, on the other hand, will only take a few minutes to be ready.

The taste

The taste of the food is a parameter to consider. If you're cooking skewers that will be done in a few minutes, the wood barbecue will have little influence on the final taste. However, if you're cooking steaks, it's clear that you'll lose flavor quality with a gas barbecue.

The space

Before choosing between different barbecues, you need to consider the space you have available. An electric barbecue can even be used in an apartment (with caution), while wood or gas barbecues require more space to ensure safety.

The price

Price will also be a determining factor. Indeed, electric or wood barbecues are the least expensive initially, however, for wood barbecues, the fuel will be more expensive than gas. Gas barbecues, while costing more upfront, may be more economical in the long run. So, consider all these points carefully to make the right choice.
