You have a gas barbecue at home, you took time to choose it by carefully reading my page dedicated to choosing a gas barbecue, today you'll also need to think about taking care of it. There are 3 types of maintenance to perform throughout the year.
Gas barbecue maintenance after each use
With each use I strongly advise you to do the following things:
- Preheat your barbecue grill each time you light it, this disinfects the grill and cleans it.
- Brush the grill with a barbecue brush to remove all residue, it's best to do this when the grill is warm
- When you have removed all food from the barbecue, turn the burner to high for a few minutes to burn all the grease.
- Cover your gas barbecue as soon as it's no longer hot. This protects it against rust and weather.
Gas barbecue maintenance after 10 uses
- Remove the grill and clean it on both sides
- Clean your barbecue burners with the brush
- Brush the inside of the barbecue to remove grease marks
- Clean the drip tray or replace it
- Reassemble the entire barbecue and light it for 10 minutes or until there is no more smoke
Gas barbecue maintenance once a year
This is the maintenance to do before storing your barbecue for winter:
- Remove the grill and let it soak in hot water and dish soap
- Remove the burner base and soak them as well
- Brush the inside of your barbecue thoroughly
- Put the burners back in place then light the barbecue, in order to check if the burners are properly in place.
- Clean the drip tray
- Clean the outside of your barbecue as you would with your car
- Dry all parts and put them back in place
- Disconnect the gas and store your barbecue indoors
Of course if some parts are broken you will need to replace them.
