Quantities should be adjusted according to how much you want to make.

Ingredients:

25 cl whiskey
25 cl ketchup
200 g brown sugar
20 cl apple or cider vinegar
zest of 1 orange
60 ml freshly squeezed orange juice
120 g finely chopped onions
15 g Chinese five-spice blend (preparation details below)
30 ml soy sauce
15 g corn flour (wheat flour also works)

Recipe:

Mix all ingredients in 30ml of orange juice and flour. Heat the mixture until it simmers.
Let it cool for 25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Beat the flour and remaining orange juice until there are no lumps.
Add to the sauce.
Then turn the heat back on, bring the sauce to a boil and stop once the sauce thickens.
Brush on your chicken wings, steaks, kebabs, pork chops or even fish then grill for 5 minutes on the barbecue.

Chinese five-spice blend recipe:

This recipe called Chinese five-spice, which isn't always easy to find in France, can be easily made at home.

In a pan, toast 10 g of pepper (Sichuan is best)
Blend the pepper and 8 star anise.
Add 5 g of cloves, 15 g of cinnamon, 15 g of fennel, then blend everything.

 

and there you have it, your Chinese five-spice blend is ready.
