stonewall kitchen sauces
Jonathan and Jim are living the American dream, creating a company that is now expanding worldwide thanks to the quality of their products.
The story of Stonewall Kitchen begins in 1991...
Jonathan King is passionate about cooking and horticulture, when a friend suggested he sell his products at a local farmers' market. His partner, Jim, a professional chef, joined him in this adventure. They bought a folding table, an umbrella, and chose "Stonewall Kitchen" as their brand name in reference to the historic stone wall located across from their kitchen window.
After their first day of sales, they decided to continue every Saturday for 5 years. Then they started selling at fairs and festivals too. They developed an eclectic range of homemade products like vinegars, oils, pesto, jams... Each time they sold everything, or almost everything. Customers appreciated the quality of the products but also the packaging, the brand was born.
This extraordinary adventure has sparked interest and loyalty from many people. Since the beginning, the company has maintained the same values: natural beauty, benefits, and sense of community. For Jim and Jonathan, if you produce something of high quality, you can only succeed.
Quickly the demand exceeded Stonewall Kitchen's small cottage production capacity, so they invested in a 1700s farm in Kittery, Maine, which they renovated to make it the company headquarters for several years. Later they moved again to a larger space.
For Jim and Jonathan, if you produce something of high quality, you can only succeed.
They participated in the Fancy Food Show in New York for the first time in 1995 (considered the Oscars of the food industry) and won 2 awards. They returned to Maine with 500 orders from retailers across the United States.
In 2000 they moved once again to an even larger space, and opened a Stonewall Kitchen café where you can have breakfast and lunch, and in 2003 they opened a store next door where you can buy the products. In 2008 Stonewall Kitchen even opened a cooking school where students can learn to cook, watch demonstrations, participate in book signings with well-known authors, chefs, stylists... Today Stonewall Kitchen has 10 physical stores, is available online worldwide, and has hundreds of employees.
Since 1995, the brand has already received 28 awards from The National Association of the Specialty Food Trade.
