Melinda's Sauces are recognized for accompanying a large number of dishes. The Melinda's story
The story of the Melinda's brand is linked to that of Marie Sharp, a woman from Belize who built her reputation in the 1980s by growing peppers and creating new sauce recipes. With the support of her loved ones, she decided in 1980 to market one of these sauce recipes under the name Melinda's, which then became the first Habanero pepper sauce so widely sold in the United States. The adventure of Marie Sharp's original Melinda's sauce took another turn when in 1994 Figueroa International, which was then responsible for distributing the sauce in the country, registered the Melinda's Hot Sauce trademark and pulled the rug out from under Marie Sharp, who then found herself ousted from her own business.
Despite this, having a certain notoriety and a loyal customer base, she managed to get back in the race after having ceded this brand in exchange for the end of the exclusivity contract with Figueroa International, and then registered her brand "Marie Sharp's".
Today Melinda's sauce is marketed by Melinda's Foods and is distributed in most supermarkets in America. Their sauces are very successful throughout the territory and the brand offers a fairly extensive range of products ranging from mild to strong hot sauces, including products such as banana chips, cookies, ketchup sauces and derivative products.

Our favorites and recipes
At Sauce Piquante we love peppers but above all we love to eat! We have our little favorites at Melinda's, the Peri Peri Garlic sauce for example for its good garlic taste, the Jolokia Steak sauce with its powerful flavors and spicy strength, and the Mustard & Habanero sauce which brings a good peppery aroma and a little extra to the mustards you already know.
It is possible to cook with Melinda's Sauces as with most other sauces. We offer you a nice little recipe so you can start exploring the applications of Melinda's sauces in cooking. Here is our recipe for avocado, cilantro and lime cream to accompany your tortillas, salads, bagels and more!
To do this you will need the following ingredients and equipment:
- A blender
- One ripe pitted avocado
- The juice of one lime
- A handful of Cilantro leaves
- Two teaspoons of Melinda's Green sauce
- 220 grams of thick sour cream
For execution, nothing could be simpler: gather all the ingredients in the blender and blend everything until you obtain a thick and airy homogeneous green cream, then place in a container that will allow you to serve, and there you have it, you now have a fresh, creamy and spicy sauce! You can of course take this recipe and add, for example, a few pieces of fresh peppers or increase the doses for more power or quantity. Enjoy!
