Torchbearer Sauces is above all the adventure of 3 friends who love food and especially creating condiments and other sauces that are more original and delicious than the next. The brand's two biggest features are their sauces which are 100% natural and the crazy design of the labels which usually hide references to the ingredients or the sauce's name. In short, at sauce-piquante.fr we love this universe and we're delighted to share it with you here!

The Story of Torchbearer Sauces

As mentioned above, the Torchbearer adventure originally began with 3 friends (Vid, Ben, and Tim) who started making condiments & sauces for fun. During 2004, one of them had Habanero peppers in his garden and didn't know what to do with them all, there were so many. While looking for something to do with all these peppers, they came up with the idea of using them to make their first hot sauce together! The result they obtained from this test, being much better than anything they had tasted in stores until then, convinced them that they had to do something with this product. They then set out to find a large quantity of Habanero peppers to bottle their new discovery and stock up on this delicious sauce. They then participated in several competitions to find out what their sauce was really worth, and it was worth it because it was awarded several times in different competitions. It's thanks to the adventures of Tim, Ben, and Vid that you can now enjoy more than twenty products for the greatest pleasure of your taste buds!

The team behind Torchbearer is known for presenting an excellent Habanero Cheesecake at competitions in the USA!

Torchbearer Sauces

Even though Torchbearer is an American sauce brand, we offer at sauce-piquante.fr (and it's our specialty) no less than 9 of their original hot sauces coming straight from the USA that you can find right here:

  • The Garlic Reaper Sauce: For garlic lovers and extreme sensation seekers, this sauce will parade the power of these two ingredients across your tongue. Be careful though, the Carolina Reaper, also known as the world's hottest pepper, is extremely hot, so this is a sauce that shouldn't be put in just anyone's hands, or you might find the grim reaper coming to tickle your palate!
  • Son of Zombie Sauce: With Son of Zombie sauce, Torchbearer offers a sauce with a very refined taste featuring ingredients like oregano, honey, of course pepper, and more surprisingly, mandarin. Without being too sweet, the rich flavors of this sauce allow it to accompany a wide variety of dishes effortlessly to make them even better.
  • Headless Horseradish Sauce: If you're a horseradish enthusiast and always looking to enhance your dishes with a little spice, this horseradish sauce from Torchbearer will more than do the job as it combines horseradish and Chipotle pepper with Jolokia pepper, an extreme pepper with a unique aroma that will add a good dose of heat to your favorite dishes.
  • Reaper Evil Sauce: Probably the hottest sauce in the Torchbearer catalog with Carolina Reaper as the main ingredient to which is added a touch of Habanero pepper for the love of taste. We hope the bravest among you will be ready to fight this sauce during a magnificent tasting session, because even if it's extreme, it's worth it!
  • Sultry Sauce #7: A sensual sauce that will awaken your senses with mandarin as the main ingredient. The freshness and sweetness of this fruit combined with Habanero pepper will awaken your taste buds and make you salivate until the next bite.
  • Psycho Curry Sauce: A perfect blend of spices and pepper for a curry sauce that will leave you speechless it's so good... or maybe just make you completely crazy about this sauce. You can use it with your Indian dishes or oriental-flavored meals to add a little touch of madness. Since it's not extreme, you obviously have the option to drizzle it on everything you already love to eat, like cold cuts, cheeses, fries, pizzas, soups, etc.
  • The Rapture Sauce: undoubtedly the hottest sauce offered by Torchbearer Sauces, The Rapture is a concentrate of very, very hot peppers. With Trinidad Scorpion as the main ingredient, the pepper sting is felt immediately, but it's not alone as it's accompanied by Bhut Jolokia pepper, another extreme pepper, and Habanero pepper which is also hot. This combination may be scary, and for good reason, as the bottle contains a nectar for the daring who dare to taste it. Once the peppery bite of the sauce passes, a palette of flavors unfolds in your mouth thanks to the spices and mandarin that accompany the peppers! P.S.: the scorpions on the bottle are a nod to the name of the main ingredient ;)
  • Torchbearer Honey & Garlic Sauce: A sauce that isn't really a hot sauce since it contains no peppers, which means you can enjoy it even if you can't handle the heat of peppers. Sweet and mild, this sauce made with honey, vinegar, and spices will perfectly accompany your salads, sandwiches, and other preparations, and since it's not spicy, even children can enjoy it!
  • Tingly #4 Sauce: An original creation from Torchbearer that offers a sauce composed mainly of mandarin for a flavor you've never experienced in hot sauce before. But since hot sauce has "hot" in it, this sauce also features Habanero pepper to stir things up and enhance your dishes. Rest assured though, as it will heat just enough without hurting your palate, all in smoothness for a lasting pleasure!

Torchbearer Sauces on the Scoville Scale

To help you position Torchbearer sauces on the Scoville scale, we offer a small reference guide for each of the sauces listed above:

To better situate all this, keep in mind that the red Tabasco sauce you probably know is located around 5,000 units on the Scoville scale, and as you can see, Torchbearer sauces offer a very interesting variety of sauces with varied tastes and heat levels. Most are accessible to those who like to eat a little spicy, but if we push the vice, Torchbearer reserves for those who always seek to go further some sauces like Reaper Evil or The Rapture, not to be put in just anyone's hands!

Recipes with Torchbearer Sauce

To answer the question "how do I use my Torchbearer sauce," we thought of offering you different recipes, each as delicious as the next. Don't be afraid, there's something for everyone!

Let the discoveries begin!

Few people know this, but while the Torchbearer brand is now known for its sauces, part of its fame is due to one particular recipe: the Habanero Cheesecake! A dessert as original as it is unexpected!

And since peppers don't grow all year round but sauces keep well, here's a recipe where we'll replace the pepper with one of the Torchbearer sauces!

to make this cheesecake you will need the following ingredients:

For the inside of the cheesecake:

  • 670 g of cream cheese (such as Philadelphia or St Moret)
  • 250 g of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of Sultry #7 hot sauce or Tingly #4 sauce of your choice depending on your taste or desired heat level
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract or liquid vanilla

For the cheesecake crust:

  • 200g of graham crackers or speculoos of your choice
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
  • 4 tablespoons of melted butter, or 60 grams
  • Optional: one teaspoon of Sultry #7 hot sauce or Tingly #4 sauce of your choice

For the Instructions:

Let's start with the crust of our cheesecake, but first of all, remember to preheat your oven to 180 degrees Celsius, then mix the sugar, brown sugar, and melted butter. If you wish, you can add a teaspoon of the sauce you've chosen, then add the crushed graham crackers or speculoos and mix again. Place the dough in a springform pan and bake for 15 minutes.

While your crust is baking, you can prepare the next step. To do this, mix your cream cheese and sugar. Once done, increase your mixer speed and add the eggs one by one at regular intervals to obtain an airy mixture. Once all the eggs are added, you can incorporate the cinnamon, vanilla, and chosen hot sauce into your preparation before mixing again.

Using non-stick spray or butter, grease the sides of your springform pan, then add the cheesecake batter before baking for one hour still at 180°C. Once cooking is complete, turn off the oven, let it rest inside for an additional hour, then place everything in the refrigerator until the next day before cutting and enjoying! If you have a sweet tooth or care about details, you can glaze your cheesecake or decorate it with red fruit coulis or fruit pieces before refrigerating!

And there you have it, you're finally ready to taste a most original cheesecake! Enjoy your meal!
