The traditional North Carolina barbecue sauce recipe is based on mustard and vinegar. Excellent for pork and poultry.

Ingredients for Piedmont barbecue sauce:

  • 120 ml apple cider vinegar
  • 120 ml ketchup
  • 120 ml water
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon chili pepper, adjust to taste
  • You can add a bit of hot sauce if you prefer it spicier.

Piedmont barbecue sauce recipe:


Mix all ingredients, and refrigerate for several days to allow the peppers to flavor the entire sauce.
