Hellicious is the first French hot sauce brand founded by www.sauce-piquante.fr! With 15 years of experience tasting and discovering sauces from around the world, we have worked hard to develop recipes that we love.

The creation and history of the Hellicious brand



The Hellicious brand was created in 2014 by Nicolas Dochter, the founder of www.sauce-piquante.fr, with the support of 187 contributors who trusted him on kisskissbankbank, the crowdfunding platform.

Hellicious, a blend of "hell" and "delicious," is a range of 3 different hot sauces: "la Terrible," "la Redoutable," and "l'Originale," which have gained popularity over time while never failing to spark everyone's interest!

In 2016, shortly after the creation of the current Sauce Piquante premises, equipped with a new kitchen (more commonly called "the lab" around here), the range developed and the famous sauces took another form to become the Hellicious Purees and Hot Sauces that you know (or that you will discover further down this page).


 

Hellicious is also and above all a brand with a strong, fun identity, offering products made from fresh ingredients and hot or even extreme peppers! An essential range of sauces for all lovers of spicy cuisine, for all those who want to experience the great thrill of hot sauce, and for those whose hearts and taste buds have been conquered by chili peppers!

The brand's slogan: "Hot is not enough" speaks for itself and was not chosen by chance! Because if heat is not everything, it's simply because Hellicious is not just about the strength of the pepper; it's to achieve excellence that the sauce and puree recipes are imagined and perfected with the aim of delivering increasingly interesting aromas and flavor nuances!

And it is out of concern for transparency that you will not find any colorings, additives, or products that are not natural in Hellicious sauces and purees!



1st French hot sauce brand 100% natural and local



We contacted the Alsace Chamber of Agriculture so that market gardeners located near our premises could grow chili pepper plants. These French peppers are used to create our sauces and purees which turn out to be 100% natural.

Hellicious is therefore the first hot sauce brand made in France that contains peppers grown in France.

Hellicious sauces are manufactured in Scherwiller at our premises. The peppers are delivered fresh and processed within 48 hours to guarantee maximum freshness. We have set up a laboratory allowing us to produce approximately 4,000 bottles per day.

The ingredients used for our sauces are also local, such as French IGP honey, local Alsace mustard, vinegar, sugar, salt, tomatoes all from France.

What does Hellicious look like today?



And today Hellicious has come a long way thanks to a wider offering supported by an ever-growing passionate community! The range has grown from 3 products at the beginning to 48 today and is not limited to sauce, mind you!

11 years after its creation, Hellicious has become a large family of hot sauces and chili purees of course, but not only! In the range you will find Dried Peppers or in Powder, Spiced Rums, Barbecue Sauces, Goodies, Gift Sets, Spicy Peanuts and even hellish collaborations like with Hellfest!

And thanks to the www.sauce-piquante.fr website and its international shipments, the Hellicious brand travels to the four corners of the world when it's not making you travel from home!



Hellicious purees



When we started importing hot sauces and peppers, the French did not know jalapeno, habanero, carolina reaper, trinidad scorpion, jolokia peppers, etc... the idea was therefore to make very pure pepper purees ourselves, allowing our customers to taste the differences and subtleties of each pepper.

We then developed a very simple recipe composed only of fresh peppers and vinegar to restore the taste of each pepper variety. It captures as faithfully as possible the taste, strength and flavors of the most iconic and most used peppers in the world.



The puree range consists of 8 pepper varieties more or less hot with unique flavors:

Hellicious Hot Sauces



After the chili puree range, we decided to make hot sauces, which combine the peppers we love with other ingredients to create increasingly original and tasty combinations.

This range contains 9 different hot sauces that you can use as a seasoning, for dipping your food, or for creating your recipes.

Hellicious Barbecue Sauces



From 2019, Hellicious has had the joy of introducing you to its new range of barbecue sauces for gourmets, because after all it was impossible for us not to integrate the art of barbecue into our universe. So here are six sauces specially created to help you discover a palette of flavors of incomparable quality and make you, at the same time, a true pitmaster, in other words, a true king of barbecue!
