Do you want meat that literally melts in your mouth? It's possible with pulled pork, come taste this iconic dish from America, which is also simple to make!

Slow cooker pulled pork!

To make this recipe you will need:

  • 1 pork shoulder or shoulder blade with bone if possible
  • 1 bottle of BBQ sauce (selection just below, don't worry)
  • 1 jar of rub (you can also choose your spices below)

Rub your meat with the rub spices. Then pour your BBQ sauce over the meat that you have previously placed in a slow cooker.

Then cook on high heat for 5-6 hours or on low heat for 8 hours. The cooking time is very long indeed, but it's also what makes the meat so tender, so it's important. To make your work easier, you can cook for 2-3 hours and then cook the remaining time the next day, the meat will only be better.
Halfway through cooking, remove the pork shoulder to a large plate and, using 2 forks, cut the pork into pieces to separate the meat well (separate the excess fat and discard it), mix the sauce and return the shredded meat to very low heat to continue cooking. You can also choose to shred the meat at the last moment if you want to make sure your meat doesn't dry out.

Once cooking is complete, all you have to do is insert your preparation into a burger bun or pita, add a little sauce (ketchup, mustard, BBQ sauce, mayonnaise etc.), pickles if you wish, then devour!

If you're ready to make the meat even juicier, you can marinate it the day before with a marinade sauce (you can see the selection a little further down).

Oven-Baked Pulled Pork Recipe

This second version is for those who prefer to cook with their oven (yes, some are more into pots, others prefer the fire of the barbecue, and others worship their oven, that's just how it is).

First, get yourself:

  • 1 pork shoulder
  • 1 bottle of marinade
  • 2 bottles of barbecue sauce
  • 1 jar of rub

Take your meat and marinate it the day before with your marinade sauce (you'll find it just below).

On the day, heat your oven to 140° and during preheating rub your rub spices on the meat then sear it on each side in a pan.

Place the pork shoulder in an oven-safe dish and pour your barbecue sauce over it, you can then cover with a lid or aluminum foil and bake for 2 hours.

Once the 2 hours have elapsed, you can turn the piece of meat over and baste it with sauce, don't hesitate to add more if the liquid is lacking, it shouldn't be dry. Then it's back for 5 hours of cooking with checking the liquid level (sauce) every hour.

When the 5 hours are up, shred the meat using 2 forks (if it doesn't come apart easily, put it back in the oven).

Mix the shredded meat with the remaining sauce and enjoy with buns, burger buns, baguette (hehe), but also with vegetables! Like below with some diced avocados, pickles, cilantro, onions, tortillas and a typically American cheese sauce!

You can choose the marinade sauce you'll need for this recipe just below:

For barbecue fans, you'll simply need to maintain a temperature around 110° and cook the meat for 7 hours (more or less of course, you need to check and add sauce so it doesn't dry out).
