Since 1928, Louisiana's strength has been its know-how! The brand takes pride in respecting the production of its sauces "Louisiana style". Used as a condiment with any food, Louisiana sauces conquered the USA thanks to their authentic taste and ease of use, the essential sauce to get you started in Cajun cooking, it now arrives for your greatest pleasure in France ready to change your preconceptions about hot sauce!
The history of Louisiana sauces
It all starts in the USA in the city of New Iberia in 1928 where the members of the family behind the group now called Bruce Foods, make the original Louisiana sauces in their kitchen and sell them to their neighborhood which quickly became quite a fan of this spicy mixture! Bruce Foods continued to distribute the Louisiana brand sauces until 2015, the year when the group then sold the brand to the Southeastern Mills Inc group, only the brand's slogan, "Not too hot, Not too mild" remained unchanged, and the Louisiana sauce brand now has three different ranges, the Louisiana Original and Red Rooster sauces with Cayenne pepper as well as Louisiana Gold with Tabasco pepper!
And to think that it all started with a neighborhood of sauce fans!
Louisiana sauces
Louisiana sauces have come a long way from Louisiana to arrive in France, we hope you will welcome the dozen Louisiana sauces we offer at Sauce piquante as they deserve! And to guide you, here's a little listing of the brand's sauces!
Louisiana sauces:
- Louisiana Original sauce: The heat of Louisiana in a bottle! It's the whole soul of the country that you'll find in this bottle containing a base of sun-aged Cayenne peppers, impossible to pass through Louisiana without coming across one of these bottles in stores, it's a classic that has proven itself and can easily be used daily, and even more so if you try your hand at Cajun cooking!
- Louisiana Roasted Pepper sauce: Ultimately quite close to the original Louisiana sauce and actually quite different, once roasted the peppers develop a whole different taste that will wonderfully accompany a multitude of dishes! We'll love to consume it with grilled meats as well for unlimited culinary harmony!
- Louisiana Chipotle Pepper sauce: Very slightly stronger than the Original sauce, this variant highlights the Chipotle pepper, a grilled Jalapeno pepper which then develops an incomparable smoky taste to this preparation and to your dishes at the same time! A few drops of this sauce will be enough to season and flavor all your dishes so don't hold back from putting it wherever you want!
- Louisiana Roasted Garlic sauce: Louisiana undoubtedly holds the secret to the balance between Habanero pepper and roasted garlic, and has found a way to bottle it! With this sauce, you no longer need to wonder whether to add garlic to your dishes or not, you now have a new asset in your kitchen ready to add a little of that garlicky taste to each of your dishes
- Louisiana Habanero Pepper sauce: The famous Louisiana sauce puts on its hottest outfit with the Habanero pepper in this recipe! Without being aggressive, this sauce won't overpower your dishes, but will add a little heat to them, everyone should be able to enjoy it without suffering too much.
- Louisiana Gold Green sauce: This pleasantly spicy sauce is actually quite mild compared to others from the brand, its particularity is the perfect blend between Tabasco pepper and Jalapeno pepper which gives a unique taste to this sauce, the sweetness and spicy taste of this sauce are accompanied by a pleasant acidity and will be a wonderful addition to your guacamoles or salsas, but can also pair very well with fish or rice, test the combinations and you'll see what it's capable of!
- Louisiana Gold Horseradish sauce: Louisiana brings together Tabasco pepper and Horseradish here, this root with a pronounced taste providing almost the same sensation as mustard in the mouth gives this sauce a unique flavor that will bring a good dose of heat and an inimitable aroma to your dishes!
- Louisiana Gold Wasabi & Pepper sauce: Clearly the sauce that all fans of Asian cuisine and above all sushi will need, it's a sauce that will take you directly to Asia thanks to the unique flavor of wasabi, be careful though because if pepper is hot and wasabi is hot, you can imagine that this Louisiana wasabi sauce is twice as hot as usual, but it won't mask the flavors of your dishes, so no worries!
-
Louisiana Red Rooster sauce:
Red Rooster sauce: Legend has it that Louisiana named this sauce red rooster to attract people looking for Huy Fong sriracha sauce whose emblem is the rooster, although it is not a sriracha sauce, the nuance in red rooster compared to the original Louisiana sauce is that in this sauce, the peppers are aged longer and develop a more pronounced aroma while being different from the original Louisiana.

Recipes with Louisiana hot sauce!
More sauce is always even more delicious! To justify this saying, we decided to present you with two recipes to give you some examples of how to use Louisiana hot sauces!
Since Louisiana plays an important role in Cajun cuisine, we suggest you make a Cajun ranch sauce to dip anything you want in, easy to make and it won't take you more than 10 minutes!
To prepare this Cajun ranch sauce you will need the following ingredients:
- 8 ounces or 226 grams of cream cheese (fresh cheese like Philadelphia or St Moret)
- 280 grams of sour cream (this product is not always easy to find in France, you can replace it with 20% fat fromage blanc)
- 55 grams of Louisiana Original hot sauce
- 1 and a half teaspoons of garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon of onion powder
- 1 teaspoon of dried parsley
- 1 half teaspoon of dried dill
- 1 half teaspoon of salt
- 1 quarter teaspoon of crushed peppercorns
- 1 quarter teaspoon of Cayenne pepper powder
For the preparation, you just need to mix the cream cheese or fresh cheese with the sour cream or fromage blanc, until both are perfectly mixed and have a smooth texture, then continue mixing while adding the rest of the ingredients to obtain a homogeneous mixture, all you have to do is taste it, serve the preparation as an accompaniment to vegetable sticks for example or with other dishes like pizzas, fries, tacos or even... the chicken taquitos from the following recipe!
Perfect in preparation for an appetizer party or to accompany all kinds of dishes, you can of course adjust the amounts according to the quantity and spice level you desire!
We were talking about chicken taquitos just above and here we are! If you're wondering, what is a taquito? Well, it's simply a rolled tortilla containing filling, usually beef, chicken or cheese, quite simple to make, the only technique needed to prepare this dish is that of turning the taquitos during cooking, so if you want to start preparing these delicious stuffed taquitos, you will need to get the following ingredients:
- 560 grams of shredded roasted chicken
- 50g of Louisiana Original sauce
- 50g of Louisiana Chipotle sauce
- 8 ounces of cream cheese, which is 226 grams (fresh cheese like Philadelphia or St Moret)
- 160 grams of shredded Colby Jack cheese (if you can't find it, you can replace it with 80 grams of shredded Cheddar and 80 grams of shredded Gouda)
- about twenty corn tortillas
- 240 grams of vegetable oil
For the preparation of your chicken taquitos, you will first need to mix the chicken, the cheese(s), the cream cheese, and the hot sauce, once everything is well mixed, spread the tortillas on a work surface then, place the equivalent of 2 tablespoons of your preparation in the center before rolling the tortilla. Pour the oil into a frying pan then heat over medium heat, once the pan is hot, place the taquitos seam side down in the pan, cook for one minute, then, gently turn so as not to reopen the tortilla and cook on the other side for one more minute, once cooked place your taquitos on a platter lined with paper towels, and serve immediately.
And there you have it, you're ready to enjoy delicious taquitos accompanied by a most savory Cajun ranch sauce, we never tire of the combination of the two!
