Tasting notes
Originally, this sauce was born from an idea: to honor the origins of ancestral barbecue. After tasting it, we can guarantee that all the elements respect culinary tradition. The peppers (chipotle) are smoked as the Mayans did millennia ago and red jalapeños were braised with applewood to add an extra dimension. To add a sweet side, apricots were added to the recipe, lemon juice and tomatillos acidify the preparation to balance the flavors.
Barbacoa sauce heat level
Seen in seasons 22 and 24, this sauce comes in 4th place in the Hot Ones show. Its score on the Scoville scale is 33,000 SHU. Enough to start tingling without tearing your palate apart. However, some sensitive palates like Ariana Grande's still felt a certain spiciness! Will Smith, Sabrina Carpenter, Serena Williams, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman also had the pleasure of discovering this Barbacoa sauce!
