Otafuku Sukiyaki Sauce
What is Sukiyaki?
This is a Japanese fondue where very thin slices of beef are cooked in this sauce. The Japanese use a fatty part of beef to make the meat more tender and delicious. They cook mushrooms, cabbage, tofu, thin noodles (or vermicelli), onions along with the meat. Once the meat is cooked, it is dipped in egg yolk (it's excellent).
How to use this Sukiyaki sauce?
If you want to make a Japanese fondue, you'll need a flat-bottomed cast iron pan or pot with low sides. Add this sauce and heat it up. Then sit down, dip your food in and enjoy!
You can also use this sauce to make a Gyudon: put some of this Sukiyaki sauce in a pan, heat it up then add sliced onions, cook for 5 minutes then add your thinly sliced beef (carpaccio style), stir well, once the meat is cooked (4-5 min) pour everything over rice. Garnish with kimchi, egg yolk, and ginger if desired.
